Written by Carol Cunningham and illustrated by Trish Daly Mill Valley, CA; Sunflower Press, 1996. Hardcover. As new from the printer. First edition. Unpaginated (34 pp: iii, 31); 2 7/8 inches square. A handmade, letterpressed miniature book. The type is handset Optima, with 9 letterpressed illustrations from full-page plates. The illustrations have all been colored using a combination of block printing and hand-coloring with watercolor. Hand-bound in purple paper over boards, with letterpressed title-plate and decorative endpapers. Limited to 35 copies, numbered and signed by Carol Cunningham. An imaginative poem about a jazz trio; a beetle who plays piano, a dragon who plays clarinet, and a tern on bass, looking for a drummer. With nine clever drawings by Trish. Great book for the jazz pick-up enthusiast, as well as cat book collectors… (hope that’s not giving too much away). $110   |
